Special Envoy of Seychelles Mr.Nico Barito recently met with Minister of Cooperative and SME of Indonesia Mr. Anak Gede Agung Ngurah Puspayoga at Ministry of Cooperative and SME of Indonesia to reaffirm the commitments of Seychelles as founder of FORSEAA ‘Forum of Small Medium Enterprise AFRICA ASEAN’ together with Indonesia, and other founder members from Brunei, Cambodia, Kenya, Laos, Myanmar, Nigeria, Sudan, South Africa, Somalia and Zimbabwe. The establishment of FORSEAA is ratified by the decree of Minister of Cooperative and SME of The Republic of Indonesia on 29th September 2014.
Mr. Barito informed Minister Puspayoga series of activities undertaken between Seychelles and Indonesian SME over the years and the links between SME and tourism activities. One of the highlight discussed is introducing Indonesian culinary in Seychelles.
Both Minister Puspayoga and Mr. Barito believed that the presence of Indonesia cuisine, coffee house and natural herbal juice in Seychelles will add up to culinary tourism and carter to upper end tourist and socialite whom visited Seychelles. Further to enhance a new image of food delicacy, combining the Indonesian culinary with Seychelles authentic creole food. Such realistic and practical approach will benefit the culinary SME from both countries to go international.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Mr. Wayan Dipta and respective Director General and expert staff from the ministry.
Being a small island nations in the Indian Ocean, Seychelles is one among the top destinations for niche travelers. The joint initiative to launch Indonesian – Seychelles cuisine or delicacies can create opportunity for culinary SME to go global benefiting the iconic brand of Seychelles.
